Featured book selections May 2017  November 2018

Unicorn Crate is a magical YA fantasy book box curated by Naomi Farr.

From May 2017  August 2019 it was run as a monthly subscription. It is now offered every other month, for single purchase only.

Young-adult fiction (often abbreviated as YA) is fiction written for, published for, or marketed to adolescents and young adults, roughly ages 13 to 18. Though it is enjoyed by many people in their 20s, 30s, and of all ages.

Boxes are shipped around the 20th of the month in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Boxes must be purchased individually during each 10-day purchase window. Make sure you're on the newsletter and/or following on Instagram to always get the latest news!

What makes Unicorn Crate the best YA fantasy book box in the USA?

In each box, I promise to send you:

* A brand new hardcover YA fantasy release, published within 6 weeks of receiving your box.

* 5-6 (often more) handpicked bookish goodies (related to the monthly themes) made from a wide range of small businesses, and sometimes designed by Unicorn Crate when possible! Unicorn Crate is a small business in itself (it's just me!). By purchasing a Unicorn Crate box, you are helping to support many small and family run shops from all over North America.

* Bi-monthly themes that I carefully plan after reading the books in advance. Plus there is always a unicorn inspired item too!

* Exclusive items from publishers and authors that you won't find anywhere else. Every box includes a handwritten letter from the author, and I also try to include signed bookplates as much as possible (so far every month!).

 THE TEAM

Naomi (owner/founder): I believe stories are one of the most important things in life. I created Unicorn Crate because I love books and fun bookish things - but also because I had a vision of creating more magic, joy, and enchantment in the world. I've curated more than 30 of these boxes and it is still my hope that these boxes will light up your day, your week, your month, wherever you are. And I love getting to know you guys on Instagram! Join the conversation @unicorncrate.

I work as a copy editor by day. On nights and weekends, I am running all aspects of Unicorn Crate, writing YA novels (mostly fantasy and a little sci-fi), am a botanical perfumer, and blogger among, other things. I hold a MFA in creative writing from Stonecoast (University of Southern Maine).

I also spoil my cat-child, have watched every episode of Gilmore Girls too many times, and am a major Tolkien fan. Oh, and Gryffindor.

For more, read my interviews on The Bookworm Files, Cratejoy, and Megabunny Reads.

Leia (magic maker): I'm a Norwegian Forest cat and I love to sit on mom's desk while she plans your crates or writes her book (she's been working on that book an awful long time). I also love to chase bubbles, watch birds (and movies... my favorites are Harry Potter, The Secret Life of Pets, and Trolls). I love my twice weekly brushings (I am a princess, after all). Cuddles are the best. Thunder is the worst. Sometimes you can find me @avioletlife.
